The Antonino Salinas Regional Archaeological Museum is a treasure trove of Sicilian history, located in a former monastery near the Teatro Massimo. Named after the renowned archaeologist, the museum spans multiple floors with collections from the Paleolithic era through the Roman period. Highlights include the Palermo Stone, a fragment of an ancient Egyptian annals stone, and the stunning metopes from the Temple of Selinunte, depicting mythological scenes. The museum also features a vast collection of Greek vases, Phoenician artifacts, and Roman mosaics. The building itself is charming, with a peaceful cloister garden where you can take a break. It's less crowded than other museums, allowing for a contemplative exploration of Sicily's layered past.
