The Palazzo dei Normanni, also known as the Royal Palace of Palermo, is one of the oldest royal residences in Europe. Originally a Phoenician fortification, it was expanded by the Normans and later by the Spanish. Today, it houses the Sicilian Regional Assembly. Visitors can explore the lavish royal apartments, including the Sala di Re Ruggero with its stunning 12th-century mosaics, and the modern parliamentary chamber. The palace also offers panoramic views of Palermo from its terraces.
