Cristo Redentore is a monumental bronze statue of Christ the Redeemer that crowns Monte San Biagio in Maratea. Standing 21 meters tall (including the pedestal), it is the second-largest statue of its kind in Europe. Visitors can hike or drive to the summit, where the statue commands a 360-degree panorama of the Tyrrhenian Sea, the Gulf of Policastro, and the surrounding mountains. The site is both a religious pilgrimage destination and a scenic viewpoint, with a small chapel at the base. The statue's arms are outstretched in a welcoming gesture, and its serene expression contrasts with the rugged mountain setting. At sunset, the bronze glows warmly, making it a popular spot for photographers. The area is well-maintained with benches and a viewing platform, allowing visitors to linger and take in the coastal vista.
