The Aqueduct of Nottolini, also known as the Nottolini Aqueduct, is an impressive engineering feat from the early 1800s, stretching over three kilometers across the Lucca plain. Designed by architect Lorenzo Nottolini, it was built to bring fresh water from the hills to the city. The aqueduct features a series of 459 arches, creating a striking visual line across the landscape. Today, the top of the aqueduct has been converted into a pedestrian walkway, offering a unique perspective on the surrounding countryside. Walking along the aqueduct, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Lucca's historic center, the Apuan Alps, and the rolling hills of Tuscany. The path is lined with cypress trees and provides a peaceful escape from the city, ideal for a leisurely walk or bike ride.
