The Via dell'Amore (Lovers' Lane) is a short but iconic footpath carved into the cliff between Riomaggiore and Manarola, part of the larger Cinque Terre trail network. Stretching about 1 kilometer, it offers breathtaking views of the turquoise Ligurian Sea and the rugged coastline. The path is paved and relatively flat, making it one of the easiest and most accessible trails in the area. Benches along the way invite couples to sit and admire the scenery, and the railings are adorned with padlocks left by lovers. The path was originally built in the 1920s to connect the two villages for railway workers. After a landslide closed it for years, it reopened in 2024 with reinforced safety measures.

Don't miss

  • Walk the entire 1 km path between Riomaggiore and Manarola
  • Take photos of the stunning coastal panorama
  • Add a love lock to the railings (bring your own)
  • Stop at the 'Lovers' Bench' for a romantic photo
  • Visit the small art installations along the route
