San Fruttuoso Abbey is a secluded Benedictine monastery nestled in a small bay along the rugged coastline of Camogli. Accessible only by foot via a scenic hiking trail or by boat from Camogli or Portofino, this 10th-century abbey feels like a hidden gem. Visitors are greeted by a pebble beach and the abbey's Romanesque cloister, which houses ancient tombs and a peaceful garden. The interior features a simple stone church with a crypt containing the relics of Saint Fruttuoso. The site also includes a small museum and a tower built by the Doria family. The surrounding turquoise waters and lush hillsides make it a perfect spot for swimming, snorkeling, or simply soaking in the tranquility. A small restaurant serves local Ligurian cuisine, and the abbey occasionally hosts cultural events.
