The Old Cathedral of Brescia, or Duomo Vecchio, is a remarkable Romanesque church built in the 11th century on the site of an earlier basilica. Its unusual circular shape, inspired by the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, makes it a standout. The interior is stark and atmospheric, with a central dome supported by eight columns, a raised presbytery, and a crypt dating back to the 6th century. Visitors can see fragments of medieval frescoes and the sarcophagus of Bishop Berardo. The cathedral's simplicity contrasts sharply with the Baroque opulence of the adjacent New Cathedral. It is a must-see for history and architecture enthusiasts.
