The Leper's Tower, known locally as Torre del Lebbroso, is a stark medieval tower located just outside Aosta's historic center. Its name derives from its use as a leper hospital in the Middle Ages, when those afflicted with leprosy were isolated here. The tower stands as a somber reminder of the city's medieval past, with thick stone walls and narrow windows. Today, it is a protected monument, and visitors can view it from the outside, as it is not open to the public. The tower's isolated location, near the Roman walls, adds to its haunting atmosphere. It is a lesser-known site, offering a quiet contrast to Aosta's more famous Roman ruins. The surrounding area is residential, with a few informational plaques detailing the tower's history.
