The Abuhav Synagogue, built in the 16th century, is one of Safed's oldest and most treasured houses of worship. Named after Rabbi Isaac Abuhav, a 15th-century Spanish kabbalist, the synagogue is renowned for its stunning Sephardic interior, featuring a carved wooden Torah ark, colorful murals, and a distinctive blue dome. Its most prized possession is a Torah scroll said to have been written by Rabbi Abuhav himself, which is taken out only on special occasions. Visitors are welcome to enter, observe the serene atmosphere, and appreciate the blend of history, art, and spirituality that defines this sacred space.
