Glandore is a charming fishing village on the coast of West Cork, about 10 km east of Skibbereen. Its name means 'Golden Shore' in Irish, and it lives up to that with its sheltered harbour, colourful houses, and stunning views over the Atlantic. The village is a popular destination for sailing enthusiasts, with a well-regarded sailing school and a marina that hosts visiting yachts. The harbour is a hive of activity in summer, with boats bobbing on the water and seafood restaurants lining the quay. The surrounding coastline offers excellent walking opportunities, including a coastal path that leads to the nearby village of Union Hall. Glandore is also known for its lively pubs and traditional music sessions. The area is steeped in maritime history, and the harbour has been a safe haven for ships for centuries. Visitors can enjoy boat trips, kayaking, or simply relax and take in the scenery.
