The Hill of Allen is a prominent volcanic hill in County Kildare, rising 206 metres above the surrounding flat plains. Its distinctive shape and the tall television mast on its summit make it a landmark visible for miles. A short but steep walk to the top rewards visitors with sweeping 360-degree views of the Curragh plains, the Wicklow Mountains, and on clear days, the Dublin Mountains. The hill is of geological interest as a volcanic plug formed about 300 million years ago. While the mast dominates the summit, the real draw is the panorama. It's a popular spot for walkers and photographers, especially at sunrise or sunset. The hill also features in Irish mythology as the seat of the legendary warrior Fionn mac Cumhaill.
