Sivagiri is a serene hilltop about 3 km from Varkala town, revered as the final resting place of Sree Narayana Guru (1855–1928), a revered social reformer who championed caste equality, education, and spiritual unity. The site features his samadhi (memorial), a meditation hall, and a museum displaying his personal belongings. The annual Sivagiri Pilgrimage (December 30–January 1) draws hundreds of thousands of devotees. Visitors can climb the 200 steps to the top, enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, and explore the peaceful gardens. The ashram promotes his teachings of 'One Caste, One Religion, One God for All'.
