Lakshman Jhula is a 284-foot-long iron suspension bridge built in 1939, crossing the Ganges River in Rishikesh. According to legend, it marks the spot where Lord Lakshmana crossed the river on a jute rope. The bridge connects the towns of Tapovan and Jonk, bustling with shops, cafes, and ashrams. Walking across, visitors enjoy sweeping views of the river, temples, and the distant Himalayas. The bridge is a hub for pilgrims and tourists alike, with the iconic Trayambakeshwar Temple at one end and numerous yoga schools nearby.

Don't miss

  • Cross the bridge to reach the Trayambakeshwar Temple, a 13-story Shiva temple.
  • Explore the vibrant markets on either side for souvenirs and local snacks.
  • Photograph the bridge from the riverbank for classic Rishikesh shots.
