The so called best Italian restaurant in the town. Food was good but it can't be said quintessential. It was our late night dolce stop. We ordered a pizza and tiramisu, cannoli and slow churned gelato. We have been provided with some house baked focaccia, unfortunately it was neither tasted fresh nor very appetizing. The pizza was nice, but, I could vouch I had much better ones in other places. At first we have been told there is no tiramisu, but, they again came back and offered the same later. The tiramisu was very well presented, but, by taste it was stale and not at all creamy and yummy. Instead of strawberry gelato, they have provided strawberry sorbet, which was really good. They probably have forgotten cannoli, which they did not provided. We have not insisted either as our experience with rest of the food was not as dolce as we have expected. We have had our holiday dinner before at Park street and we just wanted to finish the evening on a sweeter note in a cozy good place. Unfortunately which did not meet. We had earlier much better experience in their restaurant, both as walk in guests as well as when we stayed in their hotel and ordered in room dining from their restaurant. Somehow that mon amour experience was not felt this time. We truly appreciate their kind and courteous hosting, the ambience was really jolly and friendly. Thank you.
Unfortunate dining experience at La Cucina in the Hyatt Regency, Kolkata. Despite being a five-star establishment, the restaurant failed to meet basic expectations in both food quality and service. All the dishes served were tasteless and lacked and far from authentic Italian cuisine, something I can confidently say after living in Italy for the past year. The lack of guest service was disappointing, with requests for simple condiments like oregano or ketchup met with excuses about maintaining an "Italian" standard, which the food itself did not reflect. The cleanliness was also concerning, with flies present in the dining area, which is unacceptable for a venue of this caliber. Overall, it was a disappointing experience that did not live up to the reputation of a luxury hotel.
Amazing Italian food and service. On Sundays they have a buffet and a good variety of Italian food that suits all tastes. They even prepared some Gluten free items for us on prior communication basis like Sourdough pizza, risotto. Pasta and pizza were really nice along with some lip-smacking starters.
We had dinner at La Cucina last night on Diwali night. I wished they would have done something a little special. It wasn’t crowded just a few tables but service was good initially. We had the steak which was delicious and loved the Focaccia which they brought to the table when we first arrived. Music was too loud and you couldn’t hear yourself and I don’t understand why these things are not thought off or managed. But they did turn it down which made the Italian songs so much better to dine with. Just one thing that peeved me was, we asked for the dessert menu. The waiter brought it and left. There were 5 items. The one we chose finally- guess what… wasn’t available. Why not inform us earlier? These little things make what service is. A bent fork and service staff chatting to themselves and we trying to get someone, anyone’s attention. Good food but so so service. It has to be better La Cucina.
