Mangalavanam Bird Sanctuary is a small but ecologically significant mangrove forest tucked away in the heart of Kochi. Despite its size, it serves as a crucial nesting ground for egrets and a stopover for migratory birds. Visitors can walk along elevated boardwalks through dense mangroves, spotting birds like cormorants, kingfishers, and herons. The sanctuary also features a small watchtower for birdwatching. Its location amid the city makes it a unique green escape, offering a glimpse of Kerala's coastal wetland ecosystem without leaving the urban core.

Don't miss

  • Observe nesting egrets and other waterbirds from the watchtower
  • Walk the wooden boardwalk through the mangrove forest
  • Spot migratory birds during winter months (November to February)
