Lakshmana Temple is a well-preserved Vishnu temple built in the 10th century by the Chandela ruler Yashovarman. It features three bands of intricate carvings that wrap around the temple, depicting scenes from daily life, mythology, and erotic art. The sanctum houses a three-headed image of Vishnu, and the temple's balanced proportions and detailed sculptures make it a prime example of Nagara architecture. Visitors can explore the raised platform and circumambulatory path.

Don't miss

  • Study the three bands of carvings depicting deities, dancers, and erotic scenes
  • View the three-headed Vishnu image in the sanctum
