Umananda Island, also known as Peacock Island, holds the Guinness World Record as the smallest inhabited river island. Located in the Brahmaputra River near Guwahati, the island is a lush green patch of land covered with trees and rocky outcrops. Its main attraction is the Umananda Temple, but the island itself offers a unique experience: a peaceful retreat from the city, with walking paths, benches, and the chance to see the endangered golden langur. The surrounding river views are spectacular.
