Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, named after the renowned ornithologist, is a protected mangrove forest on Chorao Island along the Mandovi River. Accessible only by boat, the sanctuary offers a unique ecosystem of mudflats, creeks, and dense mangroves. Visitors can spot a variety of birds, including kingfishers, herons, egrets, and the elusive black-capped kingfisher. Boat tours, led by local guides, navigate through narrow waterways, providing close encounters with birdlife and occasional sightings of crocodiles and otters.
