Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church stands atop a hill in Panaji, its brilliant white facade and cascading steps making it one of Goa's most photographed landmarks. Built in the 16th century, it originally served as a beacon for sailors. Visitors climb a long, zigzagging staircase to reach the church, where the interior features a simple yet elegant altar and a famous bell brought from a demolished Augustinian monastery. The church is especially beautiful at sunset when the white walls glow in the golden light.

Don't miss

  • Climb the iconic zigzag staircase for panoramic views of Panaji and the Mandovi River.
  • See the large bell from the Augustinian monastery of Santa Monica, one of the largest in Goa.
  • Visit during the Feast of the Immaculate Conception (December 8) for vibrant celebrations.
