The Monastery of St. Nicholas Anapausas is one of the smaller but most charming Meteora monasteries, built on a narrow rock pinnacle near the village of Kastraki. Visitors climb a steep staircase to reach the complex, which consists of small, interconnected chapels and cells. The monastery is renowned for its well-preserved frescoes, painted by the Cretan monk Theophanes Strelitzas in the 16th century, depicting scenes from the life of Christ and saints. Its compact size and serene setting offer a more personal glimpse into monastic life, with panoramic views of the surrounding rock formations.

- Admire the vivid frescoes by Theophanes Strelitzas in the katholikon (main church).
- Climb the narrow staircase carved into the rock for spectacular views of Meteora.
