Rottach-Egern is a picturesque village on the eastern shore of Lake Tegernsee, known for its upscale atmosphere and stunning natural setting. The village center features a beautiful harbor where boats bob on the water, surrounded by flower-bedecked promenades and fine dining restaurants. Rottach-Egern is a favorite retreat for celebrities and those seeking a quieter, more exclusive experience compared to Tegernsee town. The area offers excellent hiking, with trails leading up to the Wallberg mountain, which provides panoramic views of the lake and Alps. In winter, the Wallberg ski area is a popular destination. The village also has a historic church, St. Laurentius, and a small museum dedicated to local artist Ludwig Thoma.
