The Typenturm is a distinctive historic water tower located in Westerland, Sylt. Built in the early 20th century, it stands as a testament to the island's engineering heritage and offers a unique vantage point over the town and the North Sea. The tower's cylindrical brick design is topped with a conical roof, making it a recognizable silhouette on the skyline. While it no longer functions as a water tower, it has been repurposed as a cultural venue, hosting occasional art exhibitions, events, and viewing opportunities. Climbing to the top rewards visitors with sweeping views of Westerland, the dunes, and the ocean. The tower's interior retains its industrial charm, with exposed brick and metal staircases.
