The Oberammergau Passion Play is a monumental open-air theatre production that recounts the final days of Jesus Christ. Performed every ten years, it involves over 2,000 participants, all residents of the village, who have maintained this tradition since 1634. The play takes place at the specially built Passion Play Theatre, which seats thousands. The performance lasts about five hours with an intermission, featuring elaborate costumes, live music, and a massive stage. It is a deeply spiritual and cultural event that draws visitors from around the world.
