The Norderneyer Seegatt is a dynamic tidal inlet separating the islands of Norderney and Juist. It is part of the Wadden Sea system, where tides create strong currents that shape the seabed and islands. The channel is up to 20 meters deep in places and is a key waterway for shipping and ferries. From the western tip of Norderney, visitors can watch the ebb and flow, with views across to Juist. The area is popular for boat tours and fishing. The shifting sands and sandbanks are a habitat for seals and seabirds. The seegatt is also a natural laboratory for studying coastal processes.
