The Jesuit Church (Jesuitenkirche) in Mannheim is one of the most important Baroque churches in southern Germany, located in the city center near the palace. Built between 1733 and 1760, it features a grand facade with twin towers and a towering dome that dominates the skyline. Inside, visitors are greeted by a lavish interior of white and gold stucco, frescoes by the artist Egid Quirin Asam, and a high altar adorned with marble and gilding. The church's acoustics are exceptional, making it a popular venue for concerts, especially organ recitals. The crypt below houses the tombs of Mannheim's former rulers, the Electors Palatine. Despite heavy damage during World War II, the church was meticulously restored and remains an active place of worship. Visitors often remark on the sense of peace and grandeur, with light streaming through large windows illuminating the intricate details. The adjacent Jesuit college buildings now house parts of the University of Mannheim.
