St. Catherine's Church is the only preserved monastery church in Lübeck, built in the early 14th century in the Brick Gothic style. It was part of a Franciscan monastery and later served as a parish church. Today, it is deconsecrated and used as a museum and venue for art exhibitions. The church's interior features soaring vaulted ceilings, remnants of medieval frescoes, and a collection of contemporary art installations. The austere brick exterior with its tall, narrow windows is a classic example of North German Gothic architecture. Visitors can explore the peaceful cloister and learn about the history of the Franciscan order in Lübeck. The church also hosts concerts and cultural events, blending old and new.
