Buddenbrookhaus is a meticulously restored 18th-century townhouse that served as the inspiration for the Mann family home in Thomas Mann's novel 'Buddenbrooks.' The museum offers a deep dive into the lives and works of both Thomas and Heinrich Mann, two of Germany's most celebrated writers. The permanent exhibition 'The Manns – A Family of Writers' features original manuscripts, photographs, and personal belongings, including Thomas Mann's Nobel Prize medal. Rooms are recreated to evoke the atmosphere of the novel's setting, with period furniture and decor. The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions on literary themes. Visitors can explore the garden and a small café. The house's location on Mengstraße in the heart of Lübeck's old town adds to its charm.
