The Middle Rhine is a 65-kilometer stretch of the Rhine River from Bingen to Bonn, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its cultural and natural beauty. This section is renowned for its steep vineyard-covered slopes, medieval castles perched on hilltops, and picturesque towns like Bacharach, St. Goar, and Boppard. Visitors can cruise the river on a KD or Bingen-Rüdesheimer ferry, hike the Rheinsteig trail for panoramic views, or explore the many castles such as Marksburg, Rheinfels, and Pfalzgrafenstein. The region is also famous for its Riesling wines, with numerous wineries offering tastings. Koblenz, at the northern end, serves as a gateway to the Middle Rhine, with the Deutsches Eck (German Corner) where the Moselle meets the Rhine.
