The Basilica of Saint Castor (Basilika St. Kastor) is a stunning Romanesque church located in the old town of Koblenz, near the Deutsches Eck. Built between the 9th and 12th centuries, it is the oldest church in the city and a masterpiece of Rhenish Romanesque architecture. The basilica features a distinctive westwork with twin towers, a vaulted nave, and a beautiful cloister. Inside, visitors can admire the ornate altar, medieval frescoes, and a stone sarcophagus said to hold the relics of Saint Castor. The church is still an active place of worship, and its peaceful atmosphere offers a respite from the bustling city. The surrounding square, Kastorhof, is a charming spot with cafes and a historic fountain. The basilica's longevity and architectural purity make it a highlight of any visit to Koblenz.
