Kloster St. Mang is the historic Benedictine monastery complex that forms the spiritual and cultural heart of Füssen. Founded in the 9th century, the monastery was dissolved in 1803, but its buildings remain remarkably intact. Today, the complex houses the Museum of Füssen (Museum der Stadt Füssen), which traces the town's history from Roman times to the present, with exhibits on the monastery's life, local crafts, and the famous Füssen lute and violin making. The highlight is the Baroque library hall, a masterpiece of rococo design. The adjacent Basilika St. Mang is also part of the complex. Visitors can explore the cloisters, the former refectory, and the beautiful gardens.
