Perched atop the Kehlstein mountain at 1,834 meters, the Kehlsteinhaus (often called the Eagle's Nest) is a remarkable piece of history with breathtaking panoramas. Built as a 50th birthday gift for Adolf Hitler, it was used for diplomatic meetings and as a teahouse. Today, it operates as a restaurant and viewpoint accessible via a steep bus ride and a brass-lined elevator through the mountain. The terrace offers sweeping views of the Berchtesgaden Alps, including the Watzmann and Königssee. Inside, the original fireplace and wood-paneled rooms retain a 1930s atmosphere. The site is a poignant reminder of history, with informative displays about its construction and wartime use.
