Berchtesgaden National Park is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve that encompasses the rugged Berchtesgaden Alps, including Germany's second-highest peak, Watzmann. The park is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, with over 250 km of hiking trails ranging from easy lakeside walks to challenging alpine climbs. Visitors can explore pristine forests, alpine meadows, and glacial lakes like Königssee. Wildlife includes ibex, chamois, golden eagles, and marmots. The park is also home to the famous Eagle's Nest and the ice cave at Schellenberger Eishöhle. The landscape is dramatic, with steep cliffs, deep valleys, and cascading waterfalls. The park's visitor center provides exhibits on local ecology and geology.
