Rechelkopf is a 1,330-meter peak in the Bavarian Prealps, located south of Bad Tölz near Lenggries. It offers a moderately challenging hike that rewards climbers with sweeping views of the Isar valley, the Karwendel range, and the distant Zugspitze on clear days. The trail starts from the Brauneck cable car station or from Lenggries and winds through lush alpine meadows, dense forests, and rocky sections. The summit is marked by a cross and provides a perfect spot for a rest and photo opportunity. Unlike some of the more crowded peaks in the region, Rechelkopf retains a sense of solitude, especially on weekdays. The hike is suitable for fit beginners and experienced hikers alike, with well-marked paths and a few steep sections. In winter, the area is popular for snowshoeing and ski touring.

Don't miss

  • Hike to the summit for 360-degree alpine views
  • Enjoy wildflowers in the meadows during late spring and summer
  • Spot wildlife such as chamois and marmots along the trail
  • Combine with a visit to the Brauneck mountain for extended routes
