The Cave of Bethlehem is a historic cave monastery complex perched high on the slopes of Mount Kazbek in the Kazbegi region of Georgia. Associated with early Christian hermits, this remote site offers visitors a glimpse into ascetic religious life amid dramatic alpine scenery. To reach the caves, you must hike up steep, rugged trails, passing through rocky terrain and sometimes snowfields. The interior features small chapels and cells carved into the rock, with simple stone altars and faded frescoes. From the entrance, you can look out over the vast Kazbegi valley and the towering peak of Mount Kazbek itself, making the challenging journey worthwhile for both spiritual and scenic rewards.
