The Grand Trianon is a pink marble palace nestled in the northern part of the Versailles estate. Designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart in 1687, it served as a retreat for Louis XIV away from the formalities of the main court. The architecture is a blend of Italianate and French classical styles, with a colonnaded peristyle connecting its two wings. Visitors can explore the elegantly furnished rooms, including the King's and Queen's apartments, and stroll through the surrounding French gardens with their manicured hedges and fountains. The palace offers a more intimate glimpse into royal life, with a sense of tranquility that contrasts with the grandeur of the Château de Versailles. The Grand Trianon also hosted later historical figures, such as Napoleon Bonaparte and Charles de Gaulle, who used it for state visits.
