Stretching over 1.5 kilometers, the Grand Canal is the centerpiece of the Palace of Versailles' vast park. Created between 1667 and 1679 under Louis XIV, this cross-shaped water feature was designed by André Le Nôtre. Visitors can stroll along its tree-lined banks, rent rowboats in summer, or simply admire the reflections of the palace and gardens. The canal was used for royal boat parties and as a backdrop for spectacular fireworks displays. Today, it remains a tranquil escape, offering expansive views and a sense of the grandeur of the Sun King's vision.
