Pont Neuf, despite its name meaning 'New Bridge,' is the oldest surviving bridge in Toulouse, completed in the 17th century. Spanning the Garonne River, it is renowned for its elegant arches and distinctive brick construction, typical of the region's architecture. Unlike many bridges of its era, it features a slight curve and unequal arches that adapt to the river's flow. Visitors can stroll across the pedestrian-friendly bridge, taking in panoramic views of the riverbanks, the city's historic skyline, and the iconic dome of the Church of the Jacobins. The bridge is especially atmospheric at sunset when the warm brick glows in the fading light. It connects the historic city center with the Saint-Cyprien district, making it a perfect starting point for exploring both sides of Toulouse.
