Colline Sainte-Catherine is a hill on the right bank of the Seine, rising above the city of Rouen. It provides one of the most iconic viewpoints of the city, with a sweeping panorama that takes in the spires of Rouen Cathedral, the winding Seine River, and the rooftops of the old town. This spot was a favorite of Claude Monet, who painted several views of Rouen Cathedral from here, capturing the changing light. Today, visitors can hike or drive up to the top, where a small park and a cross mark the summit. The hill is also a popular spot for paragliding and hang gliding due to the steady winds. On clear days, you can see for miles across the Seine valley. The best time to visit is at sunrise or sunset when the light paints the cathedral in hues of gold and pink. The hill is less crowded than other viewpoints, offering a peaceful retreat with a bench to sit and absorb the scene.
