such a rich and unique experience to dine here! it wasn't like any other restaurant or steak place! don't bother going here if you like your steak well-done, or even medium-well. I don't think I can have steak tartare anywhere wise now that I've tried William's. and the fried potatoes... don't make me start about it! the genuine hospitality that I received was so beyond anything similar!
Ordered a steak a point / medium rare - 50€ for it and frites. Received the plate pictured, which is absolutely medium if being generous, and very much on the medium-well side for much of it. Tried to talk with the staff, only to be talked down to and have him rudely point to another diner’s steak as medium rare (theirs was very, very rare, and looked somewhat more edible to be fair). What I received ate absolutely tasteless and tough. And totally dry (medium rare, right?). Ate a few bites and left. The overdone steak is one thing - the truly dismissive, patronizing service is way worse.
Best stake tartare with no add-on ingredients like egg. The restaurant is very small so do expect to sit pretty much elbow to elbow with your neighbors. The dry age steak is very good. The owners and service are very friendly.
Great meat, horrible bedside manner. The owner who"greeted" us was an absolute jerk. So you have to decide is the great meat worth the bad attitude. For me, the answer is a resounding no. He ruined the entire experience from the get go and the great meat was not enough to overcome the bad attitude.
