So we arrived in Paris from San Francisco and wanted some dinner before going to bed. It was a Monday night, and we walked around for some food. We passed by this place around 8:30 pm, and there was a line out the door, so we decided to walk around. Not seeing anything else, we came back around 9 pm, and there was still a line. We decided to wait and were seated in about 9 minutes. The place is rather large inside and the staff was friendly. Our order was taken promptly, and aside from dessert being brought out right away, the food was filling and delicious. We liked how you can just scan a QR code at your table and pay. The price point is correct at about $20-$30 euros/person. A bit more if you add drinks.
Was able to get a walk in take which was awesome. Overall the good was pretty decent. We were party of 4 and ordered two apps. Very small portion, but that is the standard. My dish (a take on chicken pot pie) and it was without a doubt absolutely amazing. I could eat that daily. Another guest ordered the flank steak and was very disappointed. Another guest ordered the duck, but the sides were cold. Desserts are okay, not a fan of the mousse.
We came here last year and it was good. This time it was horrible. I can’t believe how popular it is. Sure it is very attractive but most of what we ordered was third rate, just edible. Their specialty chicken was dry and they have dumped capers (and the brine?) into the sauce which used to be just delicious drippings. It was burnt and salty. We asked for a different one but they just strained out the capers and brought back the evil juice. BTW I love salt and capers but this was gross. How do you serve brown lettuce and old fries? The leeks had no vinaigrette. The paté en croute was ok- not high quality. The only item of quality was a saucisson that was made elsewhere. They comped us dessert because they messed up our order- what they called chocolate mousse was a weird hot brownie with a scoop of ice cream and peanuts. The server was very inexperienced- when I told her it wasn’t good. I showed her all the food we hadn’t eaten but 125 euros later too bad so sad, no remedies other than her timid apology. This place has multiple levels of staff, food runners, servers, floor managers but they really are just a machine to take your money, not to provide you with an experience you want to repeat.
We came here for my daughters 21st Birthday Lunch, it was her choice to come and it was a good choice ! Very Very busy restaurant which speaks volumes. Friendly staff and great good !
