The Fontaine d'Amphitrite is the companion fountain to the Fontaine de Neptune on the grand Place Stanislas in Nancy. Also created by Barthélémy Guibal, this fountain features the sea goddess Amphitrite, wife of Neptune, surrounded by cherubs and marine motifs. The fountain is symmetrically placed opposite its counterpart, balancing the square's design. Amphitrite is depicted gracefully, often with a crown and holding a scepter or shell, while water flows from the mouths of sea creatures at her feet. The gilded wrought-iron work that encloses the fountain echoes the ornate style of the square's other elements. Visitors can appreciate the refined craftsmanship and the harmonious interplay of water, metal, and stone. The fountain is especially beautiful when the evening lights reflect off the water.
