The Old Port of Marseille, or Vieux-Port, has been the city's focal point for over 2,600 years. This natural harbor is where the city was founded by Greek sailors in 600 BC. Today, it's a lively hub where fishing boats bob alongside luxury yachts, and the morning fish market sells the day's catch. The quays are lined with cafes, restaurants, and shops, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll. At the entrance of the port, you'll see the iconic Fort Saint-Jean and Fort Saint-Nicolas, which guard the harbor. The port is also the departure point for boat trips to the Calanques or the Château d'If. The area is pedestrian-friendly, with the famous La Canebière boulevard leading directly to it. At sunset, the port lights up with a golden glow, and the atmosphere is electric.
