The Col de Gordes Trail is a popular hiking route that begins in the village of Gordes and ascends to the Col de Gordes, a mountain pass with sweeping views over the Luberon valley. The trail is well-marked and passes through typical Provencal scenery: dry stone walls, scrubland (garrigue), and oak forests. As you climb, the village of Gordes recedes below, and the panorama opens up to include the Vaucluse plateau and Mont Ventoux in the distance. The trail is moderately challenging, with some steep sections, but the reward is a breathtaking 360-degree view from the top. It's a favorite for sunrise or sunset hikes, when the light paints the landscape in golden hues. The entire loop takes about two to three hours, making it a perfect morning or afternoon adventure.
