The Church of Saint-Pierre (Église Saint-Pierre) is a striking example of Gothic architecture with a unique Renaissance touch. Located in the heart of Caen's historic center, this church was built between the 13th and 14th centuries, but its eastern end was redesigned in the 16th century in the Renaissance style, creating a fascinating blend. The church's most iconic feature is its tall, ornate spire, which rises above the city skyline. Inside, visitors can admire the ribbed vaults, stained glass windows, and the elaborate stone carvings on the exterior, particularly around the portal. The church was damaged during World War II but has been carefully restored. Its location on the bustling Rue Saint-Pierre makes it a natural stop on any walking tour of Caen.
