Bois des Anglais, or 'Englishmen's Wood', is a peaceful green space perched on the hillside above Ajaccio. The name dates back to the 19th century when English visitors would stroll along this shaded path. Today, it's a lovely escape from the city heat, offering a cool, tree-lined walk with occasional glimpses of the Gulf of Ajaccio through the foliage. The path is relatively flat and easy, making it suitable for a leisurely stroll or a gentle jog. Along the way, you'll find benches where you can sit and enjoy the view or read a book. The forest is dominated by holm oaks, pines, and eucalyptus, providing a fragrant canopy. At the end of the path, there is a belvedere (viewpoint) that offers a panoramic vista of Ajaccio, the citadel, and the sea. It's a popular spot for locals to walk their dogs or for a quiet afternoon break.
