Luostarinmäki is a unique open-air museum that preserves an entire district of original wooden houses from the 18th century, miraculously spared from the Great Fire of Turku in 1827. Visitors wander narrow cobblestone lanes past workshops, homes, and gardens, where costumed artisans demonstrate traditional crafts like weaving, clog-making, and bookbinding. The museum offers a vivid, immersive glimpse into daily life in pre-industrial Finland, with authentic interiors and working tools. It's one of the few places where you can experience the atmosphere of a historic Finnish town as it truly was.
