Dominating the Cairo Citadel's skyline, the Muhammad Ali Mosque (also known as the Alabaster Mosque) was built between 1830 and 1848 by Muhammad Ali Pasha. Its design is inspired by Ottoman imperial mosques, with a central dome flanked by semi-domes and two slender minarets. Inside, the vast prayer hall is adorned with alabaster panels, massive chandeliers, and a marble mihrab. Visitors can also see the tomb of Muhammad Ali in the courtyard. The mosque's elevated position offers stunning views of Cairo below.
