Bab Zuwayla is a massive stone gate from the Fatimid era, completed in 1092 as part of Cairo's original city walls. Its twin minarets, added later, crown the gate and provide panoramic views over the historic district. Visitors can climb the narrow staircase to the top for a sweeping vista of mosques, markets, and minarets. The gate also has a darker history as a site for public executions, earning it the nickname 'Gate of the Hanged.' Today, it's a quiet landmark amid the bustling streets of Islamic Cairo.
