The Temple of Edfu is a remarkably intact Ptolemaic temple dedicated to Horus, the falcon-headed god. Visitors approach through a massive pylon gateway leading to a courtyard, hypostyle hall, and sanctuary. The walls are covered with detailed reliefs depicting rituals and mythology, including the dramatic conflict between Horus and Seth. Unlike many Egyptian temples, the roof is still intact, allowing visitors to appreciate the original scale and darkness of the inner chambers. A highlight is the granite naos that once held the cult statue of Horus.
