The Lighthouse of Alexandria, also known as the Pharos, was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, guiding sailors into the harbor for centuries. Destroyed by earthquakes, its remains now lie underwater off the coast of Alexandria. Visitors can learn about its history through exhibits at the nearby Citadel of Qaitbay, or take glass-bottom boat tours to glimpse the submerged ruins. Diving expeditions allow closer inspection of the ancient blocks and statues scattered on the seabed.

Don't miss

  • Scuba dive at the site to explore the ancient stone blocks and statues on the seabed.
